What counts as Steam playtime
Steam tracks time for games launched while you are logged in, subject to normal client behavior. You cannot fake hours by editing a local file; the profile reflects actual session history.
Common bottlenecks
Closing the client, sleeping the PC, or switching accounts stops the clock. Manual idling also fails when you forget to restart sessions after updates or crashes.
- Keeping a home PC on 24/7 is noisy and expensive.
- Forgotten sessions mean lost hours you will never get back.
Using HourBooster to stack hours
HourBooster keeps selected titles running in boosted sessions on our side. You check progress in the dashboard, adjust games, and use goals so boosts stop when you are done.
